“Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; For your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord. And they shall come back from the land of the enemy. There is hope for your future, says the Lord. Jeremiah 31:16-17

What has you captive, troubled, burdened or is affecting your mental health? I am amazed that every new battle we face, we forget about the previous battle, in which we were the last man standing. Our Lord Jesus is chain breaker and no Pharaoh’s chain is strong enough to keep us captive. Since our birth, we were made to root out, pull down, destroy, throw down, build and to plant. Simply put, our hands were built for war and recovery. It’s one thing to believe in God and it’s another to believe God. So much so that believing God is simply partnering with Him in hope. As it is written,“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.” So let not the Pharaohs in our lives hear weeping in our voices or see tears in our eyes. You are going to come back from this!

“Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise; When I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.”

No matter the situation, condition or circumstance, there is always hope. No darkness can overcome the light that is in you. And no one drowns if they keep their heads above water. I know life is hard, but against all the odds, we have to believe God. A superhero is not a superhero until they change clothes; and its how they get their strength. So let’s remove weeping and tears from our wardrobe and put on a smile; which makes our enemies suffer. My personal favorite rapper of all time is Tupac because of his thoughts and substance. His music today still serves a motivation for me to not shed a tear and to keep my head up. Smile which is one of my favorite songs, has one of the best verses ever “There’s gon’ be some stuff you gon’ see. That’s gon’ make it hard to smile in the future. But through whatever you see. Through all the rain and the pain. You gotta keep your sense of humor. You gotta be able to smile through all this bullshit. Remember that! Mmm, yeah, keep ya head up!”

A smile is simply a pleasant or encouraging appearance; and in the midst of potential weeping and tears, we have to keep up the appearance and encourage ourselves in the Lord. Now I am not saying crying is a crime, because our Lord Jesus Himself wept; but I am saying let not your tears take you out of the fight. And with all of these issues that we are facing today; let us remember that a smile can help lower blood sugar and blood pressure, reduce stress, boost our immune systems and draw people to you. So when we are drawn together, we can be encouraged by each others faith.
