In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:4-5

Right before God started on His vision, He saw no form and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. But God did two interesting things that we can apply to our lives, dreams, aspirations and vision. The first thing He did was rule over the waters by hovering over it, and the second thing He did was say “Let there be light.” So before we can create anything or live our lives, we have to control our darkness, our waters, and let our light shine on the world. As it is written, “You are light and salt of the world.” God’s most mentioned requirement of us, is to be strong and courageous. I often wondered where the expression, “we win from within” derived from. It was not until I read the opening verse many years ago that I understood. So before day one, you were ordained a winner if you tap into the Light that is in you; and this Light is Jesus in Whom is life.

To overcome is simply getting the better of your darkness, waters, or anything else that life throws at us. So what are you trying to create and what are your dreams? As it is written, “God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us.” Let’s not let what we are trying to create, or our dreams, die by sleeping on them. It will only invite the buzzards in, of which we need to keep out. Joseph had a dream and he had to go through many pits before he got the sun, the moon, and the stars.

A dream will cost, bring pain, but believing God against the odds, you will accomplish great things and reach new heights.

Life and dreams are filled with many obstacles, delays, and dark days, but suffer now and reap the rewards later. If you want a rainbow, expect rain first. If you want to come up roses, expect thorns first. If you want to go higher, expect the world to get colder. But on the path, no matter the dark place that we find ourselves in, dig deep and don’t give up. Let not your light be extinguished or lose your saltiness. You got this! As it is written, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” We win from within, and our Lord shall enlighten our darkness.
